sunset-sarsaparilla:

Skrillex’s fans are so inbred and retarded.

I hate what electronic music has become. Glad to see Skrillex picked “Flim”, but these comments makes me embarrassed to be going to his show next weekend.

KEXP Documentaries: “Electronic Innovaters” - James Blake
KEXP Documentaries starts a new series, Electronic Innovators, on the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole today at 3pm, with a feature on James Blake! This episode re-airs on my show this Saturday at 4pm.
Electronic music first made its way into pop culture through soundtracks to science fiction films in the 1950s. The German band Kraftwerk and English artist Brian Eno took plugged-in music to the people in the 70s with cinematic, space-filled tracks. In the 80s, Detroit’s “Godfathers of Techno,” The Belleville Three, started a legacy of innovation that continues today in the Motor City.  Bristol favorites Massive Attack and Portishead mixed electronic sounds with soul, hip-hop and reggae in the 1990s, creating a more accessible pop style and attracting millions of fans. Legendary French group Daft Punk propelled the rave movement into the pop charts with catchy, danceable hits. Underground beatmaker Trentemoeller and experimental artists Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin and Bjork continue to be on the forefront of this still-futuristic music style. All these artists will be covered in our new KEXP Documentary series Electronic Innovators.

"I think it’s probably their fault really that I got back so heavily into dance music and DJIng, so you can blame them. Ha!"

Thom Yorke on Modeselektor

"Trip hop has influenced artists outside the genre, including Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Travis, Beth Orton, The Flaming Lips, Bitter:Sweet, Deftones as well as Icelandic singer Björk, who utilized the genre throughout her 1993 album Debut and her 1995 album Post."
