Arthouse Music Blog
Today someone messaged us with a link to a new blog, you should check it out: http://arthousemusic.tumblr.com/, the Arthouse cover looks very similar to James Blake’s debut album cover, this is probably not a coincidence.
”Arthouse describes the fusion between Post-Dubstep and Alternative R&B. It can be also seen as an umbrella term for both genres. Pioneers of this fusion are The Weeknd, The xx and Active Child. Newcomers are Rhye, Black Atlass, Evy Jane and many more. This blog will be updated with the latest tunes around Arthouse. A mixtape is in the works. The term was originally coined by MTHRFNKR Magazine in 2012, not by this blog.”

KEXP Documentaries: “Electronic Innovaters” - James Blake
KEXP Documentaries starts a new series, Electronic Innovators, on the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole today at 3pm, with a feature on James Blake! This episode re-airs on my show this Saturday at 4pm.
Electronic music first made its way into pop culture through soundtracks to science fiction films in the 1950s. The German band Kraftwerk and English artist Brian Eno took plugged-in music to the people in the 70s with cinematic, space-filled tracks. In the 80s, Detroit’s “Godfathers of Techno,” The Belleville Three, started a legacy of innovation that continues today in the Motor City. Bristol favorites Massive Attack and Portishead mixed electronic sounds with soul, hip-hop and reggae in the 1990s, creating a more accessible pop style and attracting millions of fans. Legendary French group Daft Punk propelled the rave movement into the pop charts with catchy, danceable hits. Underground beatmaker Trentemoeller and experimental artists Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin and Bjork continue to be on the forefront of this still-futuristic music style. All these artists will be covered in our new KEXP Documentary series Electronic Innovators.
